RuneScape: Dragonwilds Guides

From Bramblemead Valley to the Scorned Wilderness — every how-to in one hub.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map of every RuneScape: Dragonwilds tutorial on the wiki. The game mixes survival needs, RuneScape-style skill grinding, Dragonkin vaults, and a co-op raid toward the Dragon Queen. If you only open one page on day one, start with the getting started guide, then keep this hub bookmarked while you push into new regions.

Jagex has the title in Steam Early Access, with a 1.0 window scheduled for 15 September 2026 on PC and consoles. That means systems keep shifting, but the core loop is stable: gather, skill, craft a power-level upgrade, clear a vault, plant a lodestone, and walk into the next biome. Guides here follow that loop instead of dumping every recipe in one wall of text.

First hours on Ashenfall

You arrive as an ordinary expedition member, not a chosen hero. Thirst, hunger, and weather hit before any dragon does. The controls guide covers keyboard, mouse, and controller bindings so you can sprint, evade, open the build menu with B, and swap the spell bar without fighting the HUD. Once those binds feel natural, the getting started guide walks the first camp: Ash logs, a roofed bed roll, a campfire, a crafting table, and enough cooked food to stop the survival meters from eating your attention.

Bramblemead Valley is the intended nursery. Goblins, deer, and cows drop bones, hides, and rune pouches. Hunt them, tan leather, and craft the Reinforced set plus a Bone Club before you treat vaults as farm routes. A blunt club is not glamorous, but vault guardians in the South Temple Woods fold faster to crush damage than to a half-built bronze sword.

Skills, spells, and why 99 matters

Dragonwilds trains skills by doing the thing, the same way RuneScape always has. Attack, Magic, and Ranged cover the three combat styles. Mining, Woodcutting, Farming, and Fishing feed materials. Runecrafting, Construction, Artisan, and Cooking turn those materials into runes, walls, weapons, and meals. Agility arrived later in Early Access as a traversal skill. The skills guide lists milestone unlocks — Parry, Rocksplosion, Eye of Oculus, Superheat — and the skills tier list ranks which of those unlocks you should rush.

Caps rose to 99 with the Dowdun Reach update. You do not need 99 in everything to see Velgar, but you do need the spells that delete chores. Axtral Projection for trees, Rocksplosion for ore, and Magical Mending for repairs are the difference between a two-hour bronze grind and a twenty-minute one. Pair that advice with a melee, magic, or ranged build so your combat XP is not wasted on a dead-end weapon.

Vaults, lodestones, and the region climb

Every major region hides at least one Dragonkin vault. Guardians drop Vault Shards; the end chest holds a Vault Core. Cores craft lodestones (32 Stone, 20 Rune Essence, 1 Vault Core). Shards feed furnaces, forges, and later shields. Fast travel spends Law Runes, and cost scales with distance and carry weight, so a home lodestone plus a pocket core is the real exploration kit.

The region walkthrough is the spine of the wiki: Bramblemead Valley, Whispering Swamp, Fractured Plains, Stormtouched Highlands, Bloodblight Swamp, Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach, Umbral Sands, then the Scorned Wilderness for 1.0. Gear tiers climb with those biomes — bone and leather, bronze, iron, steel, mithril, adamant, then rune and black dragonhide for the raid. Keep the progression checklist open while you play; it is the short form of the walkthrough.

Base craft sits in the building guide. Put the main house in Bramblemead, not in a Garou patrol. Unlock Eye of Oculus at Construction 11, snap roofs so you can sleep, and park stations (tannery, kiln, furnace, smithing forge, rune altar) under cover except the furnace, which wants open sky.

Story bosses and the 1.0 raid

Dragon Slayer is the early-game campaign. The Wise Old Man sends you after Velgar, the poison dragon that harasses the valley. You craft a Challenge Horn from bronze bars, a dragon tooth, and Bloodwood sap, then place it on the altar at Velgar’s Rise. The Dragon Slayer guide covers antipoison, Power Level 4 iron, and the three attack tells. Rewards include Velgar’s head, the Tome of the Dragon Slayer, and the path into Fellhollow.

Kuldra is the God-Eater at the end of the saga. Jagex scheduled her raid, the Scorned Wilderness, as the 1.0 centerpiece. The Kuldra guide is prep, not a spoiler dump: rune armour, black dragonhide, ancestral robes, and why you should finish the Umbral Sands and the Fight Caves first. Train Agility so the raid arena does not eat your stamina. Track dates on the 1.0 launch page and the roadmap.

Co-op, builds, and gear lists

The game is solo-friendly and online co-op. Default sessions support one to four players; Shockbyte dedicated servers raise that to six. The co-op guide explains world hosting, shared storage manners, and why one player should specialise Construction while another lives on the rune altar.

When you outgrow “whatever bronze I smelted,” open the Builds Hub and the Tier List Hub. Weapons, armour, and skill unlocks are ranked for the current Early Access meta, with the caveat that 1.0 will shuffle numbers. Official Discord, Steam, and the community wiki live on links.

Use this hub as a router, not a second homepage. Pick the pain you have today — thirst, a missing Vault Core, a dragon that will not land, a roof that will not snap — and open the matching guide. Then come back when the next region fog rolls in.
