Agility Skill Guide

Agility is the traversal skill Jagex pulled forward into update 0.12.1 on 29 July 2026. It is not a combat style. It is how you stop falling off Ashenfall, how you cut map time without burning Law Runes, and how jump stamina stops eating your fights. Pair this page with the skills guide for the rest of the 99-cap list and with the skills tier list for what to rush first.

The skill trains two ways. You gain XP on six timed courses spread across the continent, each with a leaderboard and a gold-medal time. You also gain XP passively while running on foot. Mounts do not count. If you live on a Terrorbird or a magic carpet, get off and jog if you want the track to move.

Why Jagex shipped it before Prayer

The roadmap originally had Prayer next. Player feedback on jump height, in-air control, and fall damage pulled Agility forward to July and parked Prayer in the winter Luminance update. 0.12.1 was the last minor drop before the Scorned Wilderness raid. Treat Agility as raid infrastructure: you will need the extra jump, the dash, and the cheaper stamina when Kuldra’s arena starts moving.

Combat changes shipped in the same patch. Jump cost dropped from 20 stamina to 10, then falls further as Agility levels. Fall damage starts later. A breakfall roll absorbs non-fatal drops so you keep moving. Ledge tolerance is wider. You can cycle runes and arrows mid-fight without opening the bag. Skill spells no longer glue you in place the same way. Those are not Agility unlocks, but they are why the skill exists: movement was the complaint, and this track is the answer.

Courses, medals, and capes

Each of the six stations is a fixed orb route. Run clean laps. Gold medal times unlock a displayable gold medal and a gold-trimmed regional cape for that course. You do not need gold on all six to use double jump, but the medals are the reason to repeat a course after the XP curve flattens.

Pick courses near lodestones you already planted. The vaults and lodestones guide is the travel page; Agility is what you do between stones. A dedicated co-op world can split: one player runs laps while another smelts. Solo players should park a course next to the Bramblemead house and treat it like a daily, not a weekend binge.

Double jump, dash, Windstep, Recall

Mid-air movement becomes a double jump plus a horizontal aerial dash. High Agility unlocks a second dash. That is how you clear the walls you used to bounce off, and how you leave a dragon breath without burning a Law Rune.

Windstep moved off Runecrafting onto Agility. At higher ranks the landing creates a knockdown shockwave. Rebind it. If you still look for it on the rune altar you will waste a combat tick.

Recall is the new escape spell: drop a marker, teleport back later. It does not replace a home lodestone. It is the “I am about to die in a vault and my core is in the bank” button. Law and Astral costs still apply; pack runes.

Kebbit Burrows are diggable shortcuts. Find a burrow, open the tunnel, and hop between burrow points on the map. They are the non-lodestone fast travel for people who ran out of Vault Cores. A spade from Umbral Sands helps; you do not need adamant to start looking in earlier biomes.

How it fits the climb

Do not park Attack at 8 and live on courses. The region walkthrough still gates metals. Agility makes the walk shorter. For Fight Caves the extra jump and cheaper stamina are the difference between a 40-minute cape and a 70-minute wipe. For Kuldra you want the dash before you step into a raid instance you cannot pause.

Level passively while you play. Run the nearest course when you are waiting on a furnace. Grab Windstep as soon as it appears on the Agility tree. Then go back to mining and combat. Ninety-nine Agility is a cape flex, not a Velgar requirement.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When did Agility become a full skill?

Update 0.12.1 on 29 July 2026 added the full track, six courses, double jump, dash, and moved Windstep off Runecrafting.

Do mounts train Agility?

No. Passive XP only counts while you run on foot. Get off the carpet or Terrorbird if you want the skill to move.

Is Prayer in the same update?

No. Prayer is scheduled for the winter Luminance update after 1.0. See the roadmap.

Does Agility replace lodestones?

No. Courses and Kebbit Burrows cut travel. Lodestones remain the long-distance tool. Keep a Vault Core in the pack.
