RuneScape: Dragonwilds Ashenfall Progression Checklist

Tick each region’s gear floor before you walk into the next fog line.

Progression Checklist

This checklist is the short form of the region walkthrough. Tick a line when the item is in your camp or inventory, not when you have merely seen the biome. RuneScape: Dragonwilds gates power by region: bone and leather, bronze, iron, steel, mithril, adamant, then rune-tier raid prep. Skipping a floor is how parties wipe on Velgar or walk into sunscorch in cloth.

Keep the getting started guide open for the first hours, the vaults and lodestones guide whenever a core drops, and the building guide until the house actually has a roof. Combat ranks live on the weapons and armor lists. This page does not replace those guides; it tells you when to open them.

Bramblemead Valley

Nursery region. Goblins, deer, and cows drop bones, hides, and pouches. Do not leave until the camp can sleep and craft.

  • Roofed bed — rain and night will wreck an open bed roll. See the building guide.
  • Crafting table — first station; everything else waits on it. Getting started walks the Ash-log loop.
  • Reinforced set — leather you tan here, not a metal you do not have yet.
  • Bone club — crush damage for South Temple Woods vault guardians. Check the weapons tier list before you over-invest in a weak blade.
  • First Vault Core — clear the local Dragonkin vault; guardians drop shards, the end chest holds the core. Vaults guide.
  • Home lodestone — 32 Stone, 20 Rune Essence, 1 Vault Core. Plant it at the house, not in a Garou patrol.

Whispering Swamp

Clay country. You come here to industrialise, not to sightsee.

  • Clay gathered and stocked under cover.
  • Kiln built — pottery and brick production start here.
  • Furnace placed with open sky; it does not belong under a sealed roof. Building guide.
  • Spitfoot — learn the local threat so swamp runs stop being random deaths. Walkthrough.
  • Anti-Dragon recipe — you want this before you treat dragons as a farm. Hold it for Velgar prep in the Dragon Slayer guide.

Fractured Plains

Bronze region and the altar road.

  • Bronze tools and a bronze weapon you will actually swing. Rank the choice on the weapons tier list.
  • Velgar altar located — Challenge Horn path (bronze bars, dragon tooth, Bloodwood sap) is a later tick, but you should know where the altar sits. Dragon Slayer.

Stormtouched Highlands

Iron and the tooth.

  • Iron tools and iron gear — Power Level 4 is the Velgar conversation, not a vanity upgrade. Armor tier list.
  • Dragon tooth secured for the Challenge Horn. Details in Dragon Slayer and the walkthrough.

Fight Velgar when antipoison, iron, and the horn are ready. Rewards include Velgar’s head, the Tome of the Dragon Slayer, and the path into Fellhollow. Do not skip the fight to “save time”; Fellhollow access sits behind it.

Bloodblight Swamp

Poisoned woods between the highlands and the later expansions.

  • Blightwood stocked — later crafts and Bloodwood sap routes run through here.
  • Abyssal spine gathered when the local abyssal creatures allow it. Early masterwork pieces (whip, staff) start from this neighbourhood; keep them upgraded rather than discarded. Walkthrough.

Fellhollow

Steel region. Enter after Dragon Slayer.

  • Steel weapons and armour on the person who takes hits. Farming plots at camp so food stops being a hunt. Skills guide.
  • Vault in the region cleared and a lodestone planted if you will farm Imaru or steel ore more than once.

Dowdun Reach

Mithril fortress. Madness of Zamorak, Black Knight Titan at the gate.

  • Mithril tools, weapons, and armour. Cap 99 is live; you still do not need every 99. Skills tier list.
  • Blue hide set from lesser blue dragons in the fortress.
  • Black Knight Titan beaten so the desert gate stays open. Walkthrough.

Umbral Sands

Adamant desert. Sun will kill you faster than most wildlife.

  • Adamant tools and a full adamant (or equivalent) combat set.
  • Red hide for the ranged or hybrid slot.
  • Sun protection — shade, roofs, night travel, water. Scorch drains hydration in open sun.
  • Fuzan / Fight Cave cleared. This is raid practice. Kuldra guide.

1.0 — Scorned Wilderness prep

Jagex scheduled 1.0 for 15 September 2026 with the Scorned Wilderness and the Kuldra raid. Tick these before you call yourself raid-ready:

  • Umbral Sands checklist complete, including Fuzan.
  • Rune-tier and black dragonhide / ancestral-style goals understood on the Kuldra guide.
  • Party plan: online co-op 1–4, or Shockbyte dedicated up to 6. Co-op guide.
  • Platforms and crossplay confirmed on the 1.0 launch page if friends are moving from Steam to consoles.

Work top to bottom. If a later tick is done and an earlier one is not, you got lucky, not efficient. Return to the Tools Hub when you need the reading order for tier lists and builds.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do I have to tick every line before the next region?

Tick the gear floor: bed, stations, metal, hide, and the named boss or vault. Optional side crafts can wait. The walkthrough explains which fights are gates.

Where is Velgar on this list?

After iron and the dragon tooth in the Highlands. Use the Dragon Slayer guide for the horn, altar, and antipoison.

When do I start raid prep for Kuldra?

After adamant, red hide, sun protection, and Fuzan in Umbral Sands. Run the Fight Caves for the Fire Cape, then open the Kuldra guide and the 1.0 launch page.

Should I follow a tier list or this checklist first?

This checklist first, then spend bars with the weapons and armor lists. The Tools Hub explains how to read them together.

Does co-op change the order?

No. Extra players speed the same ticks. Hosting rules are in the co-op guide.
